2023 Ford Edge Review | Midsize SUV
When it comes to two-row SUVs, the 2023 Ford Edge has much to recommend it. For families, the most important aspects may be its spaciousness and its quiet ride. For drivers, it may be its Ecoboost performance, particularly the exciting ST model.
Creating this midsize SUV, Ford designers have united a distinctive look with the utilitarian and technological aspects that modern drivers want. In this review, you’ll find the details on the trims, specs, dash tech, automatic driving aids, and important features.
Cabin Spaciousness, Cargo and Utility
Ford knows what’s important in a midsize SUV. This includes true spaciousness, a well-appointed cabin, and a quiet ride. The large cabin has 113.9 cubic feet of passenger space. Second-row legroom is a remarkable 40.6 inches of legroom.
The cargo hold is huge. It measures 39.2 cubic feet with the second row in use. The seatbacks can split-fold or fold completely. The flat surface is especially useful and allows for up to 73.4 cubic feet of cargo space. Towing capacity is 1,500 pounds.
A power liftgate is standard on most models. Even better, there is a hands-free power liftgate for busy parents and others on the go. The cargo management system is standard.
Edge SE and SEL Trim Levels
Drivers and front-seat passengers will appreciate the plush well-padded seats with supportive bolstering. This is especially important on long drives where support and comfort are so important. Rear seats can recline to provide extra comfort.
Acoustic glass and well-insulated cabins ensure that the cabin stays quiet even at highway speeds. Unlike some vehicles, the dual zone climate system is quiet. These automatic controls promise better air conditioning for both front seat positions.
A 12-inch touch screen display has advanced Sync 4A software to allow for better voice recognition. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide the integration needed for today’s top smartphones. To keep your smart devices charged and ready, there are dual USB ports and 12-volt outlets.
SEL models add many extra standards and options. The dash has dual 4.2-inch LCD displays as part of the instrument cluster. Like the SE, the 12-inch center-stack screen is standard.
Adding more style, the seats are covered in a handsome ActiveX upholstery. The heated front seats include a 4-way power passenger chair and a 10-way power driver’s seat. An EasyFold release makes the back seat easy to fold for cargo use. Power-heated mirrors provide security approach lamps.
SEL Sport Appearance Package wears carbonized gray-painted aluminum wheels. These Edge models have exciting Navy Pier ActiveX seats.
ST Line and ST Models
In the ST Line cabin, Active X is complemented by Miko inserts. Both front seats are power-adjustable and power-heated. Red stitching dresses up the steering wheel. Even the floor has sport aspects such as the unique metallic pedals, door-sill scuff plates and accented floor mats.
Its 20-inch wheels are painted with premium black gloss. LED lighting is accented by dark bezels. A SecuriCode keypad adds another aspect to keyless entry. Cargo is easier to access with the power liftgate.
Under the hood, the ST Line has the 250-horsepower Ecoboost Engine. Stepping up to the ST, the engine is the exciting 335-horsepower engine. With its 380 lb-ft of torque, it is definitely a speedy SUV. You can schedule a test drive of your preferred Edge powertrain at Earnhardt Ford.
Titanium Trim Levels
In the Ford Edge Titanium, leather-trimmed sport bucket seats are power-heated. The 10-way power driver’s chair is memory-enabled. Favorite features include ambient lighting, a wireless charger, a remote starter, and 4 smart charging USB ports.
A quieter ride quality is accomplished with more acoustic glass and an improved front and rear suspension. The B&O sound system places 12 speakers around the cabin.
Phoenix AZ shoppers can add perforated leather, power-cooled seats and two rows of heated seats. Titanium drivers can enjoy a power tilt-telescoping column. Other favorite options include the front 180-degree camera and enhanced active park assist. You can find out about prices for a favorite trim level with a quick quote. You don’t have to wait for a Ford Edge Sale thanks to our No Bull pricing.
Turbo Performance
The intercooled turbocharged four cylinder engine cranks out 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Aerodynamics are assisted by a front air curtain and active grille shutters.
Standard on the ST, a 2.7-liter V6 Ecoboost engine is a dynamic twin-turbo. To keep it light, the engine block is a light compact graphite iron. Output is 333 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.
One thing that helps set this SUV apart from its class is its standard all-wheel drive. You don’t pay extra for all-weather capability. Even better, drivers enjoy sporty rear-wheel bias when AWD isn’t needed.
Driver Assistance
Standard driver aids are meant to make the Edge safer. Forward collision warnings can trigger an emergency autobrake. Likewise, a pedestrian watch may slow or stop the Ford SUV. Technology helps drivers stay out of common side-swipe crash scenarios. These devices include the blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, and lane keeper.
Additional features include adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and active park assist. The 360-degree camera system can reveal the whole perimeter. The front camera system can be used at slow speeds to improve parking and slow speed maneuvers.
