What’s New for 2024?
With its total overhaul for the 2023 model year, the 2024 Ford F250 and the whole Super Duty lineup started strong before any changes are made. Here are just a few of the changes made that may affect which truck you want to buy.
XL models are now eligible for more Ford tech, including the exclusive Onboard Scales and its Smart Hitch. The programmable engine idle shut-down is now available on both the XL and XLT work trucks. For those who drive a Ford F250 daily, these tools may become invaluable.
A complimentary subscription to Connected Navigation Services is now standard on the Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited trim levels. If you choose to delete the pickup box, there’s a new heavy-service package to assist you.
There are some new colors such as Darkened Bronze Metallic and Glacier Gray Metallic Tri-Coat. They replace outgoing exterior colors, including Azure Gray and Stone Gray.
The Ford Co-Pilot360 package continues to offer a wide array of driver assistance. It now includes a 360-degree camera that makes parking so much easier. This multi-camera setup allows you to see what’s over, in front of, beside and behind the vehicle. It should reduce the chances of little fender benders on crowded worksites. Considering the size of these Super Duty trucks, that will be a big help to drivers.
XL Work Truck
2024 Super Duty XL trim levels now have a more potent standard engine. Standard on the Ford F-250 and F-350, this 6.8L V8 engine generates 405 horsepower and 445 lb-ft of torque.
Aware that this truck will work hard, Ford includes a front box step, a rear bumper step, a removable tailgate, and a trailer hitch receiver. Trailering assistance includes a trailer brake controller, smart trailer tow connector, trailer sway control and hill start assist.
Cabins have a 4.2-inch LCD productivity screen with regular truck functions, off-roading stats, and towing features. Coordinated color trim is featured on the glove box, instrument panel, sun visors, and headliner.
A Sync 4 infotainment system includes an 8-inch LCD touchscreen with AppLink. Maps and other information can show on the screen via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. A 5G Wi-Fi hotspot is available with FordPass Connect. This adds a remote starter, a parked vehicle locator, and more.
XL Packages and the F-450 XL
The 2024 Ford F-450 has a turbo diesel engine on the XL and all other trim levels. This 6.7 Power Stroke V8 generates 475 horsepower and a load-moving 1,050 pound-feet of torque. Of course it has four-wheel drive. The rear axle has a limited-slip differential.
Choosing the F-250 or F-350 XL 4x4, you can add the STX Package. This upgrades the cabin upholstery to cloth and adds full LED lighting. It also has the blind spot monitor, rear cross traffic alert, reverse brake assist and reverse sensing.
The XL 4x4 Off-Road Package adds a rear electronic locking differential and 33-inch off-road tires. Skid plates cover the transfer case and fuel tank. The front air dams are revised to improve approach angles, and the transfer case and axle gain water fording vent tubes.

FX4 Off-Road and Tremor Packages
The FX4 Off-Road Package is one of the least expensive ways to change your 2024 Super Duty truck into a terrific off-roader. It builds on the four-wheel drivetrain with terrain management. The truck is outfitted with all-terrain tires, an electronic locking differential, and off-road shock absorbers. Hill Descent Control helps regulate speed when traveling down a steep grade.
The XLT Crew Cab, Lariat Crew Cab, King Ranch and Platinum can be even better equipped for the trail with the available Tremor Off-Road package. This requires either the top gas engine or the high-output diesel.
Standing taller, the Tremor has everything included on the XL off-road package or the FX Off-Road package. This includes skid plates, vent tubes, unique air dams, and more.
Beyond that, Tremors have big 35-inch off-road tires and off-road running boards. Unique front springs increase its height. A front limited slip differential and rear electronic locking differential help with traction. Performance shock absorbers tame the bounce during off road driving adventures.
Off-road drivers can take advantage of the rock crawl mode over rough terrain. A Trail Control mode can regulate speed while the Ford F250 Tremor driver steers.
Super Duty Lariat Trim Level
Offered with the SuperCab or Crew Cab, Lariats are all about conveniences and amenities. The cockpit gains dual-zone automatic temperature controls, push button start, a wireless charger, and ambient lighting. Drivers enjoy an easy-entry driver’s seat and power-adjustable pedals. Both have memory settings.
Leather upholstery provides a richer atmosphere. Both front seats have power-heat functions and power-ventilated functions. These air-cooled seats take some of the heat out of hot Phoenix AZ summer days. A B&O sound system adds 8 speakers and HD radio.
With the 12-inch touchscreen, there’s an information on demand panel and cloud connective services, including connected navigation. This smart Ford system allows for more conversational voice recognition.
There’s more Ford CoPilot technology on board these full size heavy duty trucks. This includes the blind spot monitor with trailer coverage. For parking, there’s a 360-degree camera system, rear parking sensors and a reverse brake assist. The forward collision system is upgraded with intersection assist.
Exterior extras include rain-sensing wipers and a remote tailgate release. The bed gains LED box lighting.
King Ranch and Platinum Amenities
Available in two-tone color schemes, the exterior is dressed with a bright chrome grille with unique caribou inserts. There are unique fender pages and a chrome tailgate applique. It’s easier to get in and out with deployable running boards.
The King Ranch Crew Cab seats wear a distinctive Kingsville Antique Affect leather upholstery. This carries over to soft touches on the doors. King Ranch logos and woodgrain appliques add to the unique design.
Drivers will appreciate the leather-clad power tilt-telescoping steering wheel. It has power-heat and memory controls.
Ford Co-Pilot 360 systems include a more advanced forward collision system. The sides are watched over by a trailer-watch blind spot monitor, a lane-keeping alert, and a lane keeping assist. Intelligent adaptive cruise control works with lane centering and speed sign recognition to help the heavy duty truck through stop-and-go traffic.
Building on the King Ranch, the Platinum has a unique look inside and out. More refined, it wears a Satin Aluminum grille, Satin Chrome accents, a chrome exhaust tip, and chrome tow hooks. Exterior lighting utilizes signature LEDs.
The cabin has multi contour massage seating. Platinum leather upholstery covers the seats with a rich touch.
Tow Ratings and Trailering Tech
Whether it’s the King Ranch, Platinum or Limited, Pro Power Onboard provides a way to plug in small appliances and work tools. The Power Tailgate adds some exclusive Ford features, including the tailgate down camera and tailgate-down rear parking aid.
Ford Smart Hitch helps you estimate tongue weight for towing. Pro Trailer Hitch Assist helps you align the hitch and trailer. On-board Scales helps you decide when your bed has reached its weight capacity.
Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Trailer Reverse Guidance are Ford exclusive technologies. These help the truck driver maneuver the trailer safely in parking lots or campsites.
Tow ratings for these Super Duty trucks are excellent across the board. High-output diesels offer best-in-class gooseneck towing. Ford F-450s can tow up to 40,000 pounds when properly equipped.
These trucks have the best-in-class numbers for conventional towing. A double-wheel Ford F-350 can pull up to 30,000 pounds. If it has the larger bed, it is rated to haul up to 8,000 pounds.
Limited Trim Level
When you step up to the Limited trim level, Ford automatically upgrades the engine to its High Output Power Stroke V8 Turbo Diesel. This unit cranks out class-leading 500 horsepower and 1200 lb-ft of torque.
This model gains dual alternators and a four-wheel disc ABS system. The four-wheel drive system includes electronic shift-on-the-fly capability. Ford’s 5th-wheel Gooseneck prep package is standard.
Limited cabins have a dual-panel moonroof and ambient lighting. Leather comes in a unique two tone design with Light Slate and Admiral Blue. Power-adjustable steering wheels wear premium leather in Admiral Blue.
Trim accents include genuine carbon fiber. A Miko suede headliner is one of many ultra-soft touches throughout the interior.
Limited models have all of the driver assist features, trailering tech, and hauling tech that you find on the King Ranch and Platinum trim levels. It adds predictive camera views and a head-up display.
Bed and Cabin Sizes
Three different cabs help spread out the price points for these full sized pickups. Most affordable, the regular cab may be all you need. It has a single row of seats for up to three people.
Supercab models increase seating to six. You can claim interior cargo space by folding the seats. That cargo area is easily accessed in this four-door cab.
The Crew Cab is even bigger with more headroom and legroom than the Supercab. It’s spacious enough to be an SUV. If you fold the rear seats, you can claim 52.1 cubic feet of cargo space.
Two bed sizes are bigger and more spacious than the big spacious beds on the Ford F150. The larger bed is an 8-footer. Measuring 98 inches in length, it offers a 78.5 cu ft cargo volume. The second bed is 6.75 feet, Measuring 81 inches long, it offers 65.4 cu ft of cargo volume.
