2022 Ford Edge Review
Taking to the road for the new model year, the 2022 Ford Edge has upped its style game. A new black appearance package adds aluminum wheels painted in ebony black. Other style points are black grille, lower side molding, mirror caps and even the skid plates. If you prefer a different look, the Adventure Package adds wheels in carbonized gray that front all-terrain tires. Grille bars, mirror caps, and roof-rack rails are all in black. You don’t have to go for either, but you can still get a new look with the exciting new colors of Flight Blue or Forged Green.
Interior Trim Levels
The SE is all you may need to have the technology and amenities to take care of your daily needs. It has dual-zone automatic temperature controls and push button start. The SEL trim has ActiveX upholstery on a 10-way power chair and a 4-way power chair. The ST-Line has red-accented stitching on the seats, armrest, console lid, and floor mats. Other elements include ActiveX upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a unique metallic pedal. The Edge Titanium has satin accents, ambient lighting, and leather upholstery. The Edge ST has bolstered bucket front seats with leather upholstery, Miko inserts, and silver stitching. Of course, our favorite feature is the available power-cooled front seats. Ready to upgrade? Technology
SE trims start you off right with the Sync4A screen and four smart charging USB ports. There’s a large 12-inch screen that’s biggest in the class. With its size, the user can split it into multiple windows allowing them to utilize navigation and keep an eye on music functions. A dual-headrest DVD entertainment system is available to entertain children in the backseat. The ST Line adds a wireless charger, a remote starter, and other tech. The B&O Sound System adds 12 speakers and HD radio. You can also get a panoramic moonroof. The power-adjustable front seats have ten settings and a memory feature. Utility
The Edge has a large hold with a cargo management system and available power liftgate with hands-free feature. The rear bench folds flats and offers an EasyFold release feature. The hold has a spacious 39.2-cubic feet cargo volume. With the seats folded, the area behind the front row measures 73.4 cubic feet. A trailer tow package adds trailer sway control and other key features to allow the Edge to tow up to 3,500 pounds.
Performance
Ford Ecoboost technology cranks out 250 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. The system has automatic stop-start to decrease fuel waste when idling. Exclusive electric power-assisted steering gives the driver more help and more control. All wheel drive is standard on all models. An 8-speed automatic has SelectShift capability. The ST edition has a sporty engine that cranks out 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque. This performance model has a special 7-speed automatic. Safety
The Edge has a long list of the best protective features and driver assistance. For parking, it has a reverse sensing system, a cross traffic alert, and a rearview camera with a washer feature. To reduce the chances of an accident and to decrease secondary collisions, Ford includes a forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, dynamic brake support, automatic emergency braking, and Ford-exclusive post-collision braking. To reduce the chances of side accidents, there’s a complete lane keeping system and a blind spot information system. Additional features include adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist. Parking maneuvers are easier with a front 180-degree camera and an enhanced active assist system with perpendicular, parallel, forward, reverse, and side sensing capability.
