What’s new with the 2022 Ford F150? There are new towing features that will take the guesswork out of determining the weight of payload or determining the tongue weight for towing. Also new, continuously controlled damping will take more bumps out of daily driving and off-road adventures. For some, the most exciting news is the F150 Raptor R edition with a beefy V8. Performance
The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with 400 pound-feet of torque at your command. It certainly demonstrates that six cylinder engines can do the work of eight-cylinder ones. Like the regular V6, it has start-stop technology to reduce fuel waste. If you need more, there’s a 5-liter V8 (410 lb-ft), a PowerStroke V6 (440 lb-ft), a 3.5 liter Ecoboost V6 (500 lb-ft) and a 3.5-liter PowerBoost Hybrid V6 with a remarkable 570 lb-ft of torque. The new Ford F150 Lightning is strictly electric, and it produces as much as 775 lb-ft of torque. When it comes to your budget, you really can’t get more performance for your automotive dollar regardless of your choice of engines. Then there’s the 10-speed automatic transmission that makes Ford trucks extremely efficient.
Capability
The 3.5-liter V6 can tow as much as 14,000 pounds, and the V8 rating is 13,000. The diesel can tow about 12,300 pounds. The hybrid F150’s maximum is 12,700 pounds. The standard V6 can tow up to 8 ,100 pounds while the 2.3-liter Ecoboost V6 increases the maximum to 10,100 pounds. Plus, you’ve got many off-roading choices, including the F-150 Tremor and the F-150 Raptor. They've got advanced equipment to allow for the most aggressive off-roading. This includes terrain management, hill descent control, lifted suspension, specialized shocks, advanced tuning, off-road tires, skid plates and more.

To make towing easier, only Ford is offering a trailer backup assist and a trailering blind spot monitor. The new Smart Hitch can help you determine whether the tongue weight is correct. The new Smart Scales can tell you how much payload you have added to your bed. There’s also an 8-inch tablet screen for entertainment. Voice commands can access Apple Apps with Apple CarPlay or Google Android Apps with Android Auto. This means you can stream navigational maps to the screen. You can also get the navigation upgrade and have the best Ford navigational tools built into the system. The available Wi-Fi hotspot is a good tool on worksites since it allows access in a wide perimeter around the truck.
Safety
When talking about technology, one must include the many driver assistance and crash avoidance systems now standard or available on the 2022 Ford F-150. Drivers will feel more confident with a lane watch that can also give active assistance and a forward collision warning that will also trigger automatic braking assistance and dynamic brake support. Ford’s adaptive cruise control can be paired with automatic lane centering and evasive steering assist. A 360-degree camera reveals any danger around the truck.
