Explorer Interior
Spaciousness is a hallmark of the new Explorer. Models seat six or seven, depending on your preference. Each trim is truly a value package. There are so many ways that this SUV can serve you. For the driver, there are favorites like a power tilt-telescoping steering column and voice-activated climate controls. Kids will be more comfortable thanks to sun blinds, extra HVAC ducts, and rear-seat HVAC controls.
Teens appreciate second-row legroom and extra USB ports. You can keep things simpler with the 2025 Explorer Active, go for more with the ST Line, add focus on the driver in the ST, and pamper everyone in the Platinum. Our favorite amenities are the front ventilated power chairs.

High Tech Toys
Updating the driver cockpit for 2025, Ford now offers two large screens to keep drivers informed and connected. Behind the wheel, the 12.3 inch digital gauge cluster replaces a 6.5-inch display. A new 13.2-inch touchscreen replaces the 10.1-inch touchscreen.
Upgrades include a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. Backing out the new Ford Explorer is easy with a choice of a rear view or 360-degree view camera system. The trailer extension on the blind spot system is a must-have for those who tow.
Potent Performance
Ecoboost performance makes the I-4 Turbo especially potent, even though it claims better fuel efficiency than a rival V6 ever could. Plus Ford watches your city fuel economy with a stop-start automatic system and your highway fuel economy with active grille shutters.
This 300-horsepower engine is one of the most powerful among 3 row SUVs in the Explorer's class. In fact, it's the best power for your money. Its 310 lb-ft of torque keeps it competitive on busy highways or climbing mountain roads.
If you want a more thrilling ride, you don't have to look to a different brand or style. The Explorer ST definitely adds sport to the drive. It has a 400-horsepower engine that delivers 415 lb-ft of torque.
For 2025, the ST and ST-Line models offer a complementary ST Driving Experience at one of two locations. This includes the Ford Performance Racing School in Park City, Utah.
Utility and Spaciousness
Rear-wheel drive models start you off right with Ford terrain management. It just takes a turn of a dial to alter settings to deal with slippery surfaces or other challenges. Four-wheel drive adds more ways to manage rough surfaces.
What about trailering? These big SUVs are strong enough to haul 5,000 or 5,300 pounds, depending on the individual tow rating.
Helping with cargo, EZ Entry seats are easy to fold. A power-fold function adds more utility, and a power liftgate does some of the heavy lifting for you. You can add to the roof rack rails for extra carrying capability.
The large passenger cabin is quite spacious. We especially like how the 6-seat layout allows the middle row to move up, providing even more space for third-row passengers to stretch out.

Safety and Driver Assistance
Life is less stressful when you have an SUV that is watching for trouble. The Explorer is equipped to watch the lane lines, the car ahead, and the cars alongside. With that knowledge, it can help the driver stay out of harm’s way.
Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control brings it all together and gives the driver more of a break by providing lane centering and stop-and-go capability. A favorite stressbuster, available automated parking assistance can handle parallel and perpendicular maneuvering.
Adding Lane Change Assist and in-lane positioning, BlueCruise is ready to take over the driving in certain situations. When it's handling the road, a driver's job is to stay alert.
