Veterans Oasis Park

Veterans Oasis Park offers 113 acres with scenic trails that are perfect for horseback riding, biking, and walking. The park is great for birding as well as picnicking, and there’s an outdoor amphitheater, diverse Sonoran Desert plants, and Chandler’s Environmental Education Center to explore.

There’s also a 5-acre lake which is a great place to catch catfish, rainbow trout, hybrid sunfish, largemouth bass, and bluegill as, every two weeks from mid-September to June, the lake is stocked with fish. People planning to fish need to have an Urban Fishing License, and Arizona state fishing regulations apply here.

The Arizona Railway Museum

The Arizona Railway Museum was founded in 1983 and currently offers over 30,000 pieces of railroad-related items in their archives. Visitors can see a display of railroad artifacts, walk through vintage rail cars, and ring a steam locomotive’s bell. The museum also has rail cars from movie sets!

At the gift shop, visitors can buy souvenirs to remember their time at the museum. It’s also possible to rent the Party Caboose for events. The museum is open from noon to 4 p.m. on the Weekends between Labor Day and Memorial Day.

The Chandler Museum is 10,000 square feet and shares a 10,000 square-foot courtyard, which is great for outdoor programming, with the McCullough Price House. The Chandler Museum features 6 – 8 exhibitions per year with topics ranging from Chandler’s history to nationally traveling exhibits.
