Museums in Chandler,AZ The Pueblo Grand Museum has exhibits that showcase the archaeology of the area. It is a fun place to visit if you want to learn about the ancient people that lived in Arizona and Phoenix thousands of years ago. These people were known as the “Canal Makers,” and they engineered ways to bring water into the valley.

Start your visit at the Indoor Gallery where you can learn about the process of canal making and find out how long the ancient canals were. You can then move on to see ancient pottery, jewelry, and tools along with a diorama of a miniature ancient city.

Phoenix Art Museum

Make sure to visit the Phoenix Art Museum where you can see contemporary and modern art pieces, along with Colonial art and displays of Mexican and Latin American art. There is a little of everything here, including a fashion collection with over 4,500 garments from America and Europe that even showcases shoes and accessories. The photography collection features over 90,000 works from over 2,000 photographers. With regularly rotating exhibits in the Norton Gallery, there’s always something new to see.

Arizona Science Center

The Arizona Science Center is a hands-on museum experience for the whole family. It has a planetarium, an IMAX theater, and many interactive exhibits. This museum is a great place to escape the heat of Phoenix and spend the day exploring and learning. Visitors can check out the All About Me exhibit and learn about how the body works, or learn about the science of flight at the Flight Zone exhibit.

The W.O.N.D.E.R. Center explores the human brain and includes a touchable brain model, and the Evans Family SkyCycle brings visitors 15 feet in the air where they’ll learn about the center of gravity and counterbalance.

Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art

The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art is the only Phoenix-based museum dedicated to modern art and architecture. It sits in a building redesigned by a local architect and features an open-topped sitting space called Knight Rise. Current exhibits at this museum include Design Transfigured/Waste Reimagined. This takes a look at environmental concerns and sustainability. You can also see Murmuration and Janel Garza: Environ. The I hear what you’re seeing exhibit explores what a painting might sound like and allows visitors to experience what different sounds might look like.
